Clean Slate: Christian Dior S/S 2016

An imposing mountain of beautiful purple delphiniums decorated the building where the Spring/Summer 2016 Christian Dior show was hosted and people filled the Rue de Rivoli to catch a glimpse of the A-listers who gathered to honour the house of Dior and Mr.Simons.

The creative genius behind the Dior collections since April 2012, Raf Simons, mentioned how this collection was all about keeping it simple and quiet. He called the collection calm and very soft - and continued to talk about how he was thinking about the South of France when creating, while at the same time he suggested that there’s a Victorian touch as well.

The venue inside “screamed” two things: simplicity and cleanliness, and the front row was one to be jealous of, and the most on demand supermodels graced the runway. Christian Dior is all about feminine daywear and timeless elegance, and this season Simons payed tribute to that. From the hair, and the make up to the accessories and the delicate silhouettes - everything was so elegant and feminine.

Beautiful scallop-edged handkerchief cotton dresses, shorts and black tailored bodices.

The jackets were softened and skimmed the body and broke into bands of pleats at the hem - giving a feminine yet quite masculine merge (hinting the Victorian twist Mr.Simons mentioned!)

As for the accessories, Simons decided to bound the models necks with scarves and chokers - which carried a single jewel with a metal tag which read 1947 - an ode to Christian Dior’s “New Look” collection. - Read More.

Stronger and fiercer than ever before - the Balmain Army is back, with the Spring/Summer 2016 collection being one of Rousteing’s yet.

This season’s lineup was made out of “real women - with real shapes” as the designer wanted to show that he is proud and supports “real, strong women with strong characters” on the catwalk. From “golden girl” Gigi Hadid, to “it-girl” Kendall Jenner, and supermodels including the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio, Joan Smalls and Jourdan Dunn, Balmain made a statement of a beautifully powerful diversity. Balmain is all about diversity and empowering women, bringing them to the spotlight.

We also saw a new promising colour palette being used in the designs - beige, chocolate, a vibrant orange as well as some shades of green. What we loved about the collection was the use of suede (there was a lot of it - and we totally love it), as well as the addition of ruffles onto the designs. At the same time we also spotted plenty of beaded gowns and second skin sequin dresses - both very Balmain.

Olivier Rousteing looks forward to an even more strong and powerful era for Balmain - and with the Spring/Summer 2016 collection he is getting there, and we are ready to embrace it. - Read More.
Givenchy S/S 2016

Riccardo Tisci knows how to put up a good show, that is a fact, and on the 14th anniversary of 9/11 he took the show of the iconic fashion house.

The first Givenchy store is opening in New York City this year, and for Spring/Summer 2016, Riccardo Tisci took the show from Paris to New York.
The setting on Pier 26 was at least cinematic, but at the same time Tisci, who appointed artist Marina Abramovic as the artistic director of the show, chose to reflect on the losses of 9/11 since the show was on the 14th anniversary of the tragic events.

The collection was melancholic yet so powerful and romantic - or as the Tisci mentioned “a very honest” one, a collection that it is “full of love”. Dreamy ivory slip dresses and lacey strapped camisoles made an appearance and we are totally in love. Tailored black pants and crepe tuxedo jackets caught the attention of the A-list stars sitting front row, while the soft kimono coats and pointed shoes gave an edgy-chic New York vibe to the show. - Read More
